Caption Lanes is designed for private, in-person conversations. The app does not create accounts, run analytics, sell data, or keep raw audio.

Microphone and captions

After you confirm everyone’s consent, live microphone audio is passed to supported on-device browser speech tools and a short-lived direction estimator. Raw audio is held only in memory while captions are active, is never written to storage by Caption Lanes, and stops when you pause, end, or close the app. The app refuses browser speech modes that cannot advertise local processing.

Data on your device

Caption text, times, lane choices, display settings, and an optional purchase license are stored locally in your browser. You can export transcript data or clear it at any time. Removing site data also removes it.

Purchases

If you buy or verify Caption Lanes Plus, your browser contacts the Sociobot billing API. Sociobot/Dodo processes the purchase as merchant of record. This app stores the returned license token locally and sends it only for license verification. See the checkout provider’s policy for payment data.

Network access

The installed app’s files are cached for offline use. Caption Lanes makes no third-party runtime requests except when you choose checkout or when a saved license is due for verification.

Your choices

Ask everyone before starting. You can deny microphone access and still use typed captions. Export or clear saved caption text from Settings. For privacy questions, contact privacy@sociobot.in.
